How big can a roller blind be?
Up to 2000 to 3000 mm wide, depending on the fabric, and up to 3000 mm drop. Larger drops are available on request.

How big can an outdoor blind be?
Raffia and PVC blinds can be up to 2.0 m wide and 2.5 m drop. Outdoor blinds are lifted by hand with a rope, so larger blinds are heavier to raise. For wider openings, we recommend splitting the opening into two blinds. For Wooden, please ask us.
Installation
Can Blinds.mu install using my measurements?
Yes. You can give us your own measurements and we will manufacture and install accordingly. When you supply the measurements you take responsibility for them; when our team measures, we take responsibility.
Can roller blinds be fitted inside the window opening?
Yes. An inside mount blind sits inside the window recess for a built-in look. The recess should be deeper than 100 mm. If the recess is shallow or something is in the way, a face fix blind is fixed to the wall around the window and covers it. Always tell us which one you want.
Can a roller blind be motorised?
Motorisation is possible on the larger roller tubes (45 or 55 mm), depending on the size and fabric. Tell us when you ask for your price.
How do aluminium blinds work?
You tilt the slats to direct the light, and you raise the blind out of the way when you want the full window.

Can wooden blinds be motorised?

Can wooden blinds be used in kitchens and bathrooms?
Real wood does not like steam and damp. For kitchens and bathrooms, ask us about faux wood slats, which cope better with those rooms.

How do vertical blinds work?
Each vane hangs from a sliding carrier in the headrail track. A control (wand, chain or cord) tilts the vanes open or closed and draws the whole blind to one side. Open the vanes before you slide them so they do not catch.

Fabrics
What is the difference between block out and translucent roller blinds?
Translucent fabrics let daylight through and soften glare, so the room stays bright. Block out fabrics have a solid coating that stops light coming through, which suits bedrooms. Light filtering and screen fabrics sit between the two.
Can I see the fabrics in person?
Yes. See the swatches at our factory in Dagotière, St Pierre. Opening hours: Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00, Saturday 09:00 to 15:00, Sunday closed. We approve a colour from the swatch, never from a photograph.
Do aluminium blinds block out all light?
No. Aluminium blinds give precise light control by tilting the slats, but there is no completely blackout version. Closed slats give privacy.
What colours do aluminium blinds come in?
Five ranges: Plainzilla for plain colours, Glitzfinity, Woodazzle for wood effect, Perforated and Blindtastic Bargain. Please see and approve your colour from a physical swatch.
Are aluminium blinds suitable for kitchens?
Yes. The slats are coated aluminium, tested for resistance to humidity and corrosion, which suits kitchens and offices.
Do wooden blinds block out light?
You tilt the slats to let the light in or to keep it out. Closed slats give privacy from most angles. Wooden blinds regulate light; they do not block it out completely, and from some angles you can see through the slats when they are tilted closed.
What are your wooden blinds made of?
Diamond-coated basswood slats, 50 mm wide, with environmentally friendly UVA and UVB resistant stains and a scratch-resistant finish.
What colours do wooden blinds come in?
Four colours: Aztec Grey, Cherrywood, Dark Roast and White. Please see and approve your colour from a physical swatch.
What is the difference between translucent and block out vertical blinds?
Translucent fabrics are polyester with a clear acrylic coating and let soft light through. Block out fabrics are polyester with a solid acrylic coating and keep the light out. Some fabrics are soft textured.
Should I choose 127 mm or 90 mm vanes?
The 127 mm vane is the more cost effective choice, but the window recess needs to be wider so the fabric does not stick out of it. The 90 mm blind stacks slightly wider when it is open. If you are unsure, our team can advise.
Are vertical blinds good for sliding doors and large windows?
Yes. They suit large windows, sliding glass doors and even irregular windows, and when they are drawn they stack neatly to one side to keep your view clear.
What is an Eclipse blind?
An Eclipse blind has alternating sheer and solid horizontal stripes. You move the stripes to line up the solid bands for privacy, or the sheer bands for soft, filtered daylight.
Do Eclipse blinds give privacy?
The solid stripes shield the view from outside, while the sheer stripes let soft light into the room. You choose how much of each to show.
What do Eclipse fabrics look like?
There are classic neutral tones, bolder colours and textured fabrics. Please see and approve your fabric from a physical swatch.
What is a Luminous blind?
Luminous blinds bring together vertical blinds and curtains: vertical vanes covered in sheer fabric. They let soft, diffused light in and obscure the view from outside.
Do Luminous blinds give privacy?
The sheer fabric obscures the view from outside while light still comes in. Block out fabrics are also available.
What colours do Luminous blinds come in?
There are subtle neutral tones and bolder colours, in translucent and block out fabrics. Please see and approve your colour from a physical swatch.
Outdoor
Which materials can I choose for outdoor blinds?
Raffia, PVC or Wooden. Each comes in a choice of colours, finished with a brown or beige tape (grey with PVC Grey).
How do I look after my outdoor blind?
Brush off dirt regularly, dry the blind completely before rolling it up, check the straps and fittings, and roll it up in strong winds.
Sliding Insect Screens
Which layouts can I choose?
1 Fix + 1 Slide, 2 Slide, 1 Fix + 2 Slide or 2 Fix + 1 Slide. The layout is how many panels your net has and which of them slide.
Does a sliding insect screen give privacy or shade?
No. A sliding insect screen keeps insects out while the window or door stays open. For shade or privacy, choose a blind.
How do I look after my sliding insect screen?
Slide the panels smoothly, clean the mesh gently with mild soap and remove leaves and debris.
Repairs
Do you repair blinds that Blinds.mu did not supply?
We can assess selected blinds bought elsewhere. Send a repair request with photos and we come back to you with the next step.
How does a repair request work?
Choose the blind and what is wrong, add photos and your details, then choose On site repair or Collection and repair at our factory. Our team will assess your request and confirm availability and charges before booking.
Warranty
What does the warranty cover?
We guarantee the mechanism of your blind against manufacturing defects for six months from installation. This adds to your legal rights. The full wording is in our terms.
Delivery
Can I collect my blinds from the factory?
Yes. When you order you can choose pick up from our factory or delivery and installation. Any delivery and installation fee is shown in your quotation.
Care
How do I clean a roller blind?
Vacuum gently. Spot clean with mild soap and let the fabric dry naturally. Please do not scrub, fold or crease it.
Is it safe around children?
We fit a cord or chain safety device on every blind that has one. Keep cords and chains out of reach of children, and keep cots, beds and furniture away from them.
How do I clean aluminium blinds?
Dust the slats regularly with a feather duster or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment.

Dust regularly with a feather duster or a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. Tilt the slats up and then down, but not completely closed, to reach the whole slat surface.
How do I clean vertical blinds?
Dust regularly with a feather duster or a vacuum cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals. Ultrasonic cleaning by specialist cleaners is recommended.
